Edith Hamilton:
To be able to be caught up into the world of thought -- that is educated.
Epictetus:
It is impossible for a man to learn what he thinks he already knows.
Epictetus:
We must not believe the many, who say that only free people ought to be educated, but we should rather believe the philosophers who say that only the educated are free.
Eric Hoffer:
In times of change, learners inherit the Earth, while the learned find themselves beautifully equipped to deal with a world that no longer exists.
Happy 3rd day of Lunar New Year everyone!
Hope you guys have been having a good time :)
In review of the past few days… I would say that much has happened and that this year’s Lunar New Year is pretty unique… due in part to the first day falling on a Sunday, we all get to have 2 extra days of public holiday instead of the usual 1 extra… heh… not bad, not bad at all~
CNY – Day 1 – went to church with parents, den slacked my day away. Brother and sis-in-law came over to visit.
CNY – Day 2 – Visit to Wai Puo’s house, Sa Lau Sim’s house and Si Gu’s house. In that order… First time in my life, I wore a chong sum! Wah… feel shiok man… haha… maybe I will wear again next lunar new year… hehe…
CNY – Day 3 – Visitation of Mr. Chow’s house with SIM TKD Club mates.
Sadly, I was late… sorry ah guys~
Walked from Seng Kang Interchange to Mr. Chow’s house… and with the beating my feet took from wearing the high heels over past two days, I am surprised that I managed to walk that fast… then again, there is a possibility that my feet were already numb. [more on that later]
Gen was already there before us… heh so we all bai nian and sat down to watch Sa Po Lang.
Sir’s dvd player collection keeps growing… hahah… his sound system is very shiok, can hear all the way from the lift landing… haha… I would say that the movie was pretty violent and I was wondering why we were watching such a film during chinese new year… haha… and yes, I spent most of my time squirming in my seat… I am a pacifist remember? ‘Make love not war is my motto’, so yes, when people are slated to die a horrible and gruesome death, I am curl up and hide behind a pillow…
We sat around and ate lots of tid-bits, so much so, I think I am falling sick now… too much ‘heaty’ food lah… have to counteract the ‘heaty-ness’ by drinking liang cha…
-goes to the kitchen to make a cup-
We made our way back to Compass point on foot, yes my poor feet… but we all made it… Daphne, Sean, Hakim, Sian Li, Alan, Kelvin and myself… Desmond, Chi Foong and Jill did not join us in the trudge back… they had other places to be at different times…
Took the NEL to Serangoon and walked home from there… yes, yes, my feet were literally yelling at me when I got home…
As of now, my feet are road maps of ‘violence toward feet’.
If there was a society of prevention of harm towards feet, I think I would be their current top offender.
My right foot collided with Alan’s foot during sparring last Wednesday, resulting in a HUGE blue black on my foot, I still can’t walk properly because of that injury, but thankfully its healing…
My left foot has cuts from getting stabbed by a branch I tripped over last Friday.
I got blisters on both my little toes from my first day of wearing my new shoes. The pain of wearing those shoes on Sunday was so bad that I took off the shoes and walked barefoot home from church.
To make matters worse, I wore the same pair of shoes on Monday and today when I went out for visiting…
Therefore: in the case of placing feet through much pain, Sharon is found guilty as charge. o.olll
-psychotic laughter-
I have a feeling I will have more charges against me after tomorrow’s double training… haha…
-hysterical and maniacal laughter-
Heh… I do wonder: how did I manage to run on the treadmill at the gym on Friday morning, when I could hardly walk the day before that… haha…oh my feet, how you have suffered… haha… God works miracles! :D
The joy of the Lord is my strength!
Cheers people! 12 days of CNY to go~!
Woohooo~
